The new fifth-generation iPod nano is an electronic marvel! It packs so many powerful things is so incredibly small and sleek body, it's unbelievable.

All these years I've shied away from the purchase of an iPod for the simple reason that it can take so much of my time that my writing and other interests are suffering lack of time. But when I read that the new iPod nano and video clips recorded in addition to recording voice and music I was kind of looking at itcurious. I began to read its specifications and its features. When I learned that there had been a world clock, showing me the time in 4 cities around the world at the same time, stopwatch could, alarm clock, calendar, memo notes, contacts and games, it pricked up his ears. But the last function that my resistance was broken, that it also works as a pedometer still excellent! That did it! I fell for it and bought it immediately.

But it was my first iPod and the first Apple device to do so. I had no idea how toit work. I read the brief instruction booklet, for people with Apple devices, and not for a first timer like me have been disclosed. When I turned on the device, I could not walk up and down the menu, as I tried in vain to use the arrow keys, which I used to press the TV remote control. I was disappointed beyond measure. After an hour or so I discovered the secret of scrolling up and down the menu only by an accident. You have to brush your finger in a circular motion around the wheel! Clockwisescroll down and counterclockwise to move the menu! Eureka! I felt elated. The button at the top of the iPod, which I assumed was the ON-OFF button did nothing of the sort. It was a slide switch on the iPod in the unlikely event if they do not hang and no longer works will be reset. Soon I became an expert. Press Menu to return an image at a time and pull ring with the thumb on the wheel to select the menu and press the central button to move to the next screen.

I downloaded and installed iTunes on myComputer. The program put the music on my hard drive and convert them for iPod. I connected the iPod and sync with iTunes, it finished soon. Even if iTunes does not pick up 2nd Mov clips from my desk and put it on the screen they are not in sync with the iPod and iTunes, a message appeared that it was not a format that could play on the iPod nano. Similarly, I found that movies that I had shot with my Panasonic camera could not be synchronized to the iPod. You need to convertTo load movies in MP4 format, iPod. Later, I searched the net and downloaded the software to convert movies for your iPod. You can visit www.e-zsoft.com. But the films that I shot could be downloaded on my computer with the iPod and they did play well. The iPod Camera is very good at video clips, although the position of the lens, something that one has become accustomed to.

I did not expect the iPod to play music without plugging in the earphones, and was pleasantlysurprised when it did. The sound is good quality but the volume is barely audible through my shirt pocket. But you could keep the back of the iPod to your ear and enjoy the music without the earphones correctly. The function is accepted when listening to voice memos. With headphones the sound quality is very good.

I was pleased to see that the audio-out jack is a full size (3.5 mm) and not a mini. I was in my music system and connect the iPod to play music. It sounded great! But I do not have any success playing the video through the AV cable, which I bought separately. It did not take on my Panasonic home theater projector. I took it back to the store, which it tried, and said that it is not working although says its black box and iPod nano, it seems to the latest version. He would like it to me and when he disagrees with the new AV cable with the new Nano. But this is certainly a spot on Apple, Inc. Why does not the accessory for all?It just adds to inventory, makes the older accessories obsolete and adds to the cost.

I turned on my iPod pedometer put it in my right pants pocket and went into my garden and started counting the steps. I stopped after a few laps, when I counted 485 steps and looked to the iPod. It had recorded 487 steps! The pedometer really works. I then held it in his hand trying to make it as quiet as possible, as I was looking at the screen. The iPod faithfulI took each step. I wonder how Apple does not play it because I do not know every step counters that can do that.

I closed the iPod in my im5 Altech inMotion docking speakers and played some wonderful music. But the radio did not work on the dock. I have worked in the earphones and the radio. It probably uses the earphone wires as a sort from the air. Then I tried it from plugging the iPod into the speakers via the aux. Input with a cord, which could serve as an antenna, but theRadio does not work.

I then plugged my iTrip FM Transmitter for the iPod and the frequency to 100 MHz. This worked well when my radio was turned on at the same frequency. I turned on the FM radio in my car and played from the iPod, Louis Armstrong's "When The Saints Go Marching By" as a salute to admire Apple for the iPod too.

On the whole, I am glad I bought the iPod Nano. It will be my companion in my pocket wherever I go. I have my fear and the small scalesI had an aversion for the Apple product. Kudos to Apple Inc. for being here with a fantastic practical and useful product for the consumer music lovers!
